We are very pleased to announce that Dance with France uses the innovative S.T.A.R.S Dance Syllabus for our Jazz, Ballet, and Tap classes. This relatively new dance syllabus incorporates the strongest aspects of the Ballet Syllabus from London and the Canadian Syllabuses for Jazz and Tap Techniques, but it also has so much more. DWF feels that it is very important to follow a syllabus for structure, discipline, and for grading purposes. We will also be following this syllabus for our examinations and bringing in a certified examiner every year before the end of the dance season to give feedback not only to our students, but to our teachers and the studio as a whole.
Just as detailed as any other syllabus, S.T.A.R.S is based on the fundamental principles that are so very important to the development of a dancer such as flexibility, posture, musicality, technique, knowledge of terminology, etc. However, it also incorporates another component that we feel is very important to the longevity of a dancer, that component being the dancer’s performance quality and passion for dance.
